UPS Announces Fee Increases

UPS recently announced several upcoming fee increases. In addition, effective June 4th, they will be assessing a new Shipping Charge Correction Audit fee if the average shipping charge correction is greater than $5 in an invoice week. If you are shipping packages that qualify for dimensional rating but a) do not provide dimensions, b) provide inaccurate dimensions, or c) provide inaccurate/estimated weights, this new fee could very well be assessed on your upcoming UPS invoices.

Whether they want a unique packing slip, to conditionally use a preferred carrier/service or put their logo and their specific reference fields on a shipping label, they all have requirements that can eat up your time.

It’s hard to believe that November is here already. The shorter days are a reminder that the holidays are rushing in along with a new year! Here’s what you need to know regarding the carrier rate updates for 2018.

DHL Express, FedEx and Purolator will increase their rates an average of 4.9%, effective January 1, 2018. These rates will come down automatically through each carrier’s nightly communication, therefore no effort is required on your part.

Effective January 22nd 2018, FedEx has announced it will be changing the SmartPost service from weight-based to dimension-based rating. As you may recall, several years ago they changed the majority of their services to dimension-based rating.
