InfoShip® Zone Skipping
InfoShip is able to handle multiple
"shippers." A shipper is an origin location. Shipments can
be rated with more than one shipper before processing. This
ability allows for Zone Skipping. Zone Skipping is a mechanism
used by large shippers to minimize shipping costs by trucking
many shipments together to another shipping location that is
closer to the ultimate destination. Then, the individual
shipments can be sent via small parcel carriers to their
ultimate destinations. There is no limit to the number of
shippers that can exist in a system.
The "shipper" can be changed
programmatically through a business rule (by order, customer, or any
other criteria or combination of criteria) or it may be set manually
through the InfoShip interface. The screen shot below shows the
shipper field as it can exist on the main InfoShip display.
